
Alessandra Garosi, Piano
Alessandra Garosi was born in Siena (Italy) on 1965.
She received her degree in piano in 1984, in Florence, with Maestri Paolo Rio Nardi and Gregoria Gobbi. She then went to Australia where she studied with her first piano teacher, Miss Sonya Hanke, untill February 1986. Afterwards she studied french modern repertorie with M°Pascal Rogè, contemporary music with M°Giancarlo Cardini, soviet modern composers with M°Georgy Sebok and M°Ivan Moravec, classical repertoire and chamber music with M°Pier Narciso Masi, supported throughout by scholarships (State Foreign Department-Dublin, “Lorenzo Perosi” Accademia Internazionale di Biella) and awards (C.I.F.M.-Nice: GAMO-Florence). She was a student at Indiana University, in Bloomington, U.S.A., where she studied acting (Johanna Park), composition (J.Meuhelsen), piano (Shigeo Neriky) and chamber music (trio Borodin).
Ms Garosi is known as a 20th century piano performer in Europe, though her solo piano recitals often includes modern composers.
Artists such as Roger Eno, Gavin Bryars, Daniel Shell, Damiano Santini, Kamran Khacheh, Riccardo Riccardi, and others, have written music for her.
Since 1985, she playes in Australia, U.S.A., Romenia, Germany, France, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, in Switzerland and in Ireland, often with the guidance of the Ministery of Foreign Affairs and European various music international managements (Materiali Sonori, Clic Music, Romenian State Agency, etc.).
She also performed for international radio programs for RAI 1, RAI 2 and RAI3, Channel Five (Holland), Globe and 2mbsradio and ABC in Australia.
She has been the Artistic director of music festivals such as ”I Concerti della Domenica” in Certaldo (FI), and “I Suoni del Fiume” in Loro Ciuffenna.
She is part of the Ensemble “Harmonia” (Orio Odori clarinet, Damiano Puliti cello, Paolo Corsi percussions) which has worked for the Italian label “Materiali Sonori” since 1991. Alessandra here has been working as a pianist, an arranger and composer.
Harmonia playes and records contemporary music, exploring musical areas from minimalism to soundtrack music, meeting composers such as Frank Zappa and Nino Rota.
Harmonia also performs all over Europe, in Mexico and takes the interest of main networks in Japan, United States and Europe, as an important symbol of novelty on chamber border line international music panorama, counting collaboration with musicians such as Mitchel Nyman, Gavin Bryars, Roger Eno and Daniel Shell, Giorgio Gaslini, etc.
She has always been interested on popular, folk and border-line music. In 1995 she meets Kamran Khacheh, and playes his song ”Navai” for a discographic work (Ema Records), on 2004 she playes with the Kocani Orchestar, and throught this experience a cd is issued (Ulixes, Materiali Sonori); during her tourneès in Australia, she meets up with natives didgeridoo player, and a piano recital called ”Suoni dal Mondo” appears on her piano programs in Italy, Germany and Slovenia.
As a teacher, she has been often involved in building shows such as soundtruck music for cinema (Charlie Chaplin movies), or other events where music comes together with another discipline.
A recent experience of this type was the Tragedia “I Persiani” di Eschilo, where she coordinated 65 students form Italy and U.S.A., she wrote the music for the greeck choir, and did the music direction, (acting direction by Kevin Crowford).
She is Chamber Music lecture at the Conservatorium ”Arcangelo Corelli” in Messina.
She playes as a soloist (management Ema), with “Harmonia” (management Sherazade), and as part of trio with Lorella Serni, acting and Claudia Bombardella, sax and voice (management Musiquedurole).
